SharePoint Features: Surveys

SharePoint lets you build a collaboration portal that can sit centrally in your organization and provide a means to access and share information and access applications databases and a myriad of resources. One thing you can also access is opinions. You can create and administer surveys of users – employees, groups, locations, clients etc. and get feedback, direction or critique.

The surveys you create in SharePoint can have many different types of questions and even branching logic!

For help with SharePoint and SharePoint services in the Houston area, and to put SharePoint features, including surveys, to work for you, contact EBS IT Solutions

Branching logic allows you to tailor questions depending on responses. For example, you can ask if someone has experience with an iPAD and then ask questions of only those folks who say yes.

Surveys can be formal data collection or simple fun elements to enliven the Intranet.

The types of questions you can use in surveys include:

  • Single line of text
  • Multiple lines of text (formatted text can include pictures, tables, and hyperlinks).
  • Choice (choices as radio button, drop-down menus, check boxes)
  • Rating Scale
  • Number
  • Currency
  • Date and time (can use a date selection calendar)
  • Lookup (from answers shown as a column in a list)
  • Yes/No
  • Person or group (can setup selection from directory)
  • External data (browsing a predefined database )
